Frequently Asked Questions

Where should I begin?

Gather up all your information. Start with the text and wording. This is the most crucial part, because search engines such a google and yahoo use the text on your page to determine your ranking in their databases. See the "How Do I Get Ranked Higher On Search Engines?" FAQ section for more detailed information on creating great text for your site.

What materials do I need?

It's simple! The more material we have to work with the nicer and more professional your website will look. Designing a web site with less many times limits the possibilities for creativity

A basic web site can be made with these simple pages:

  • Home/Index
  • About
  • Services/Products
  • Contact
  • Site Map

As a customer, unique and insightful information about your business should be provided on each page respectfully. Coyote6 GraphX is not responsible for legal liability of content. Clients should obtain owner's permission before posting any copyrighted materials.

What information should be used on each page?

The home page should give a real quick synopsis of your website. In the world of the web, on average you have less than 10 seconds to capture your audience's attention. Your site could be the exact thing they are looking for but they may never know that if you bombard them with a lot of information all at once.

Once a page is clicked, you must get the reader's attention to the important aspects of your site as fast as possible. DO NOT overload them! A short paragraph or two is all they may ever see of your site, so choose your wording carefully. Once the viewer realizes that your site may contain the information they need, the will dive further into your site to get more information.

So for the home/index page be sure to keep your information basic and to the point! They say an image is worth a thousand words, so why not use that to your advantage. Use an image to capture your audience. If you have an animal adoption site, why not show the happy-go-lucky face of a puppy to capture the hearts of your audience right from the start. Now that you have your visitor's hooked on your site, give them the information about your company.

The about page show go into depth about your company. Let your customer's know what you have in store for them. They want to know that you have been around for twenty years. They want to know if you are an upstart company with a bright future. So share that with them?!

Tell them what your company does. Show them your talents and let them know what you can offer them. This is where a services or products page can really come in handy. Show the world what you have and how you do it better than your competitors!

Okay so you have your potential customer's attention, now they need to know how to get ahold of you and where your store is located! Tell them on the contact page. Give them an interactive google map so they can find their way easily.

From here add as many informative pages as you want! They can be the very thing that helps bring in more and more customers. The sky's the limit!

How Do I Get Ranked Higher On Search Engines?

Search engines such as Google, MSN, and Yahoo base your ranking on keywords. Finding the best keywords is crucial. You want to use words that people will search for on your web site. For a automotive web site, keywords such as: vehicle, automobile, horsepower, transmission, engine, torque, gas, electric, hybrid, parts would be good to use.

Once you have determined the keywords that customers would search for then you need to use them in your page. The more times you use them the better, but do not over do it! No customer wants to see the same word over and over again and neither does Google. If done improperly, repeating or using bad design to hide text with the intent of tricking web crawlers can get you black listed on Google's search engine. Black listed means your site will no longer show up when people search for you. So make it sound natural. Find a good balance.

Using those same keywords in your image alt tags will also help Google rank your page, but make sure that the alt tag coincides with the image too. The purpose of the alt tag is to provide valuable information to the user in cases where the image fails to load or they have a disability, so make sure it matches.

Each page should have its own set of keywords depending on that pages content. So if you have a pricing page for your electric automotive parts you may not want to use "gas" as a keyword. So replace it with another keyword to describe that page.

Also each page should have its own unique title heading. The title header displays on the very top of your browser. This page's title is "Coyote6 GraphX - FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)". The title header should begin with your website name and contain a relevant name for what the viewer is reading. This step will also help search engines rank your web site.

Once you have your page written then you need to place the keywords into a keywords meta tag so the search engine can retrieve them. Other important meta tags to add are the description, author, and revisit tags.

The description is used just to display added information about your page. Although Google does pull from it when creating the information below each link, it will not help your ranking. It will only display 155 to 165 characters, so I would recommend staying right around that length.

The revisit tag tells search engine web crawlers to come back to your site after so many days. The crawlers will also read the robot.txt file in your root director (if present) to know which directories they are allowed to search.

The author tag is reserved for the web site author. In other words it is the place where someone can check to see who created the web site. This would be where Coyote6 GraphX is entered. Also another common courtesy is placing a link at the bottom of the web site for the web designer's site. This practice is not carried out on all sites, but will help your web sites ranking and is very much appreciated by web designers.

When ranking a web site Google will count the links to and from your site. So by placing the web link at the bottom you will only improve your ranking. Sharing links with other web sites is a popular way to help increase traffic flow. There are a few precautions in doing this though. Make sure the site you are sharing links with is a reputable site. If they are engaged in malicious web usage then your site could pay the price. Google will look at the links on your site and if one of them is a black listed site, your page can be penalized and your ranking dropped. So make sure links are to good honest web sites.

On the reverse side of adding links, you do not want to add too many. Google recommends keeping the number of links away from your site, below 160 links per page. So keep that in mind too.

An additional piece of information that google smiles upon is a user friendly site map. A page within your website, that lists all of the pages for public viewing. Obviously with a dynamic website, you may not be able to display every page available but be sure to include the important ones that can lead you to the sub pages.

How Do I Submit My Web Site To Search Engines?

Just go to each of these web sites and follow their easy to use instructions. Only submit the main page of your web site once though. Multiple submission can end up with the blank listing of your web site.
